A polished concrete floor has many benefits, but perhaps the greatest advantage is the incredibly small amount of maintenance required to preserve the original shine. A properly maintained polished concrete floor will last a lifetime.

At Concrete Reflections, we grind concrete to a smooth finish, seal and polish. This process results in a dense surface that prevents spills from quickly seeping in and staining. Additionally, the sealant prevents dust from working its way up the concrete and out onto your floors.

To maintain your polished concrete floors, simply mop with warm, soapy water or a neutral cleaner once a week. It is important to use a soft mop for small areas and a soft pad with an automatic scrubber for large surfaces. This will prevent scratching and etching caused by more abrasive materials. And that’s about it. There is no waxing or sealers required.

Caring for your Concrete Floor Check List

  • Dust mop daily: Dirt is abrasive to polished concrete floors. Removal of dirt and grime helps polished concrete floors retain their original shine.
  • Wet mop weekly: Use clean water and clean mops. Automatic floor scrubber equipment can be used with a nonabrasive pad for large areas. Add a neutral cleaner like soap to aid in the removal of dirt.
  • Clean spills immediately to prevent absorption.
  • If spills are allowed to stain, clean with a deep pressure washing treatment.
  • There is no additional yearly maintenance for polished concrete.
  • 15 years later: high traffic areas may need a light touch-up of a few grinding cycles. It is not necessary to repeat the entire polishing process.

The exact maintenance schedule is determined by the use of the facility. High-traffic areas may require more frequent cleaning. Contact Concrete Reflections to learn more about the maintenance process for your facility.
